The YMCA Celebrates National Senior Citizen Day on August 21

The YMCA of Coastal Carolina plans to celebrate National Senior Citizen Day on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, by distributing 50 “Senior Care” bags to the first come, first serve to our 65 and up members at all three center locations in Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown. The YMCA of Coastal Carolina strives to meet the needs of the senior population in our community through diverse and age-appropriate programs.

In addition to distributing 50 care bags, our centers will have an array of vendors on site to provide some goods and services to our 65 and older population regarding:

• Home Health Care Services
• Help with everyday activities
• Nutrition, food, and meal services
• Money Management and Medicare Coverages.
• Transportation Services.
• Emergency Medical Alert Systems
• Help for Caregivers
• Other Professional services.

Our vendor services and hours will vary per center location. All vendor services will conclude before or at 12:00pm.

The YMCA of Coastal Carolina provides a wide variety of classes and programs for our Active Older Adults. We encourage our seniors to grow in the areas of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Our on-line registration classes consist of:

• Aquatic classes.
• Strength and Conditioning classes.
• Yoga
• Swimming
•  LiveStrong at the YMCA.
•  Moving is Medicine and
• Tai Chi for Arthritis.

Senior Connection Programs

• Mah-jongg,
• BINGO.
• Pickle Ball.
• Volunteer opportunities and many others.  

Our programs and classes are open to all senior members and additional information can be found at the center’s welcome desk.
