Moving is Medicine

Moving is Medicine Programs

Studies show that there is a high correlation between sedentary behavior and an increase in cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.  Sedentary behavior has also shown to increase obesity and cancer risk.   According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), physical activity decreases the chances of developing cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and other health problems.  Improvements can be made by incorporating as little a 30 minutes per day of cardiovascular exercise.

The YMCA’s Moving is Medicine program is an exercise program designed for men and women who need to incorporate physical activity into their lives.  Moving is Medicine is supervised by a degreed Exercise Specialist. Exercise not only helps with medical conditions, but it also helps increase quality of life.

Whether you have joint issues, hypertension, stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer, or you are just deconditioned, we can help you!

Moving is Medicine is a referral-based program.
