The YMCA offers programs that are specifically targeted to help those with chronic diseases, both to help alleviate symptoms and to aid in recovery.
Participants will work with trained Healthy Heart Ambassadors for the duration of the four-month program. During this time, participants will be encouraged to:
Participants will record their blood pressure readings using an easy-to-use, self-selected tracking tool. The Y will provide options for participants who need a home blood pressure monitor.

liveFIT can be the support you need as you seek better health and wellbeing, and it is free for members. In your initial appointment, you will work one on one with a Health Coach to help you set realistic and sustainable goals, along with a plan that fits with your goals, interests, and lifestyle. After your first meeting, you will check in with your Health Coach periodically for guidance and support until you are comfortable to move forward on your own. With your coach, you may cover a variety of topics, programs and other opportunities located at your Y and in the community.
On the first visit to the Wellness Center, a health history questionnaire, informed consent, and when necessary, physician clearance are completed. After that, an appointment will be scheduled with a personal trainer.
Our certified Personal Training staff is also available for hire. Outside trainers must contact the Wellness Director for approval BEFORE training.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA recognizes that cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The YMCA and the LIVESTRONG Foundation have joined together to help support cancer survivors move beyond their diagnosis in spirit, mind and body. This 12-week, research-based program is designed to build cardiovascular and core muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and balance. This program is offered at no cost to participants.
